As we celebrate TSDSI’s 10th Anniversary, I am honoured to reflect on our collective journey marked by collaboration, innovation, and inclusive standards development.

I continue to be inspired by the diverse expertise our members bring to the forefront. This ensures a comprehensive examination of topics from varied perspectives. Our governance principle of balanced representation further fortifies fairness and guards against undue influence in our decisions.

Over the past decade, TSDSI has become a force in shaping the telecom landscape, notably contributing to the evolution of 5G standards. TSDSI has contributed to the development of IMT-2030 (aka 6G) framework at ITU-R and intends to continuously enhance its contributions to global standards development.  Our recent publication of the Cloud Interoperability and Portability standard based on a request from TRAI stands as a testament to our unwavering dedication towards building the ICT standards ecosystem in the country.

Our ongoing efforts include expanding membership, enriching member engagement in technical activities, and hosting global standards meetings. In September 2023, TSDSI achieved a momentous milestone by successfully hosting the 3GPP TSG meeting in Bengaluru. With mounting expectations, we aim to lead in domains like Beyond 5G, 6G, and services & applications.

Startups and research significantly impact tech progress but require greater inclusion in formal standards development. Leveraging recommendations from TSDSI’s Task forces, we aim to address this gap, encouraging heightened participation in global standards discussions. To enhance global influence, we foster partnerships with peer forums, emphasizing collaborative activities for early alignments and active participation from developing economies.

This milestone is an opportunity to celebrate achievements and embrace the promise of an exciting future. I extend my deepest gratitude to all members, partners and stakeholders whose contributions have shaped TSDSI’s success and a special acknowledgment to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for their steadfast support, propelling TSDSI to the forefront of telecom standards evolution.
